Your life is busy. You have a job, a family, friends, things to do that don't leave much time to be concerned with people you don't know. But you're here right now, so you must have a little bit of time to ponder the question, Why should I care?

Why Care

TURN OFF YOUR POP-UP BLOCKER TO VIEW LINKS

This website is dedicated to everyone affected by spinal cord injury or disease, and to those who know what "walking is hard" really means.

Thanks for clicking to visit this page. It's meant to get you thinking about how your life can be enriched by volunteering, learning, giving and participating in ways you might not have thought of before.

WHY CARE?

For the majority of Canadians, the ability to walk is something that is taken for granted. Most people don't have to think twice about how they're going to get across a room, up a staircase or through a crowd.

For a person who relies on a wheelchair for assistance in getting from A to B, there are often many obstacles in the way.

It could be argued that, rather than being "disabled", people who use wheelchairs have many more abilities than people who can walk. Functioning in everyday situations in a chair often takes more forethought, patience, creativity, strength and agility than walking.

A Belleville Ontario reporter tries it first hand.
