Breast Cancer is Hard, Walking Isn't.
Weekend to End Breast Cancer
Slogan Misses the Mark
If you are participating in the
Weekend to End Breast Cancer, at first, you may take offense to criticism about the event. If you have, please
know that the WALKING IS HARD campaign is meant to draw attention to the inappropriateness of the slogan, and the
insensitivity of those who created and approved its use. It is not meant to take away from the positive things
you are doing for the cause. In fact, you might find here that there are other ways you can give, learn and honour
those affected by breast cancer.

Breast Cancer is Hard, Walking
Isn't.

|
How is the slogan being
used?
|
| |
| As seen in the media releases for the Weekend
to End Breast Cancer, even doctors have been ill-advised, as they are quoted using the phrase for publicity purposes. |
| |
| "Breast Cancer is Hard. Walking Isn't"
is an irresponsible statement, particularly when used by medical professionals. |

| An organization that is exists for the benefit
of medical advancement should feel some responsibility to be more sensitive and smarter about the messages they're
sending to the media and the public. |
| |
| From a marketer's point of view, wouldn't it
make sense to be more inclusive? Yes, it's obvious that they're targeting people who can walk, but what about people
who sponsor the walkers? |
